I reserved a car for the last appointment on Sunday evening. We landed 10 minutes later and there was no one at the counter. When booking, I mentioned the flight number and they knew how late we would be. The only way I could get hold of them was the phone I called and it rang right there on the empty counter. 4 other people were behind me in the same situation. As it was late in the evening, I decided to wait the whole night at the airport and pick up the car as soon as they opened in the morning. Of course, since they didn't want to stay 15 minutes longer the previous night, they came to work 15 minutes later this morning. They told me when I didn't show up that the reservation was canceled last night and that they couldn't help me because they didn't have any other cars. On their website, it is stated that if the flight number is provided, they will accommodate any delay and will not cancel the reservation. As the journey was long, it was very difficult for me to organize the journey to my further destination, noting that I had not slept for 30+ hours... Thanks Avis! Never again with you!!!

Booked a car for 12.30 13th September…

Booked a car for 12.30 13th September 2022 arrived at 11.45 at vancouver airport had a ferry booked for 3pm eventually got a car at 2.15pm after complaining, missed the ferry then had to wait 3hrs for the next ferry at 6pm.
Terrible customer service, no cars available, will I use Avis again
I think not.

After driving on highway noticed loud…

After driving on highway noticed loud noise. When getting to our destination noticed tires were unsafe and almost bald. Notified company and customer service response was why didn’t you notice this before? Well. I was wondering why hadn’t they serviced their car properly. Then took over an hour to get a different car cause they stated they didn’t have one available. When suggested we get our money back so we could go to another car rental one miraculously became available! Will never use this rental company again. They kept asking about the tires also as if we changed all four for some unknown reason.

Rubbish and worst

Not sure how this company is still trading ,cannot call customer service ,only email ,no response in email ,,they gave customer service contact number in email and ask us to call the customer service.
did not get the refund of deposit even after 1 month.

Avis Las Vegas DANGEROUS!

Avis Las Vegas gave me a car with completely bald tyres.
I hydroplaned and landed in a ditch as soon as it started raining narrowly avoiding other vehicles.
I was well within speed limit.
Avis didn't help at all, lied about sending a replacement vehicle leaving me stranded and now they completely ingore my calls and emails and even sent me a $220 bill for calling their useless emergency service. It ruined my holidays and almost killed my partner and me.
They behave like robots and completely don't care.

WARNING

WARNING - SAFETY

We were supplied with a car with NO tread on the rear tyres, not worn, NO tread, on the car Avis rented to us from their Las Vegas Airport depot.

They resulted in a spin off on a busy highway when they hit water. The Police commented it was a death trap. Avis support at this traumatic time was non existent - they even lied to us !!!

My advice would be avoid them at all costs, your life is worth more. If you have to use them CHECK CHECK CHECK, because they won’t

If I could give a zero I would

If I could give a zero I would. I am so furious at Avis right now for their ineptness. Can’t trust the employees! My cell phone was out of my hands for literally 20 minutes after dropping off the vehicle at the Bozeman airport. Went back as soon as I realized it was gone and couldn’t get a single person in the drop off to give any assistance. Found the guy who we dropped off The car to, and he immediately said “Can’t help you,” before I was able to ask him about finding my phone. Went to the car to search and found the car had already been gone through, even though they said it hadn’t. Phone pinged at the Airport for 2 days and have never been able to have a conversation with anyone at the airport via phone. Always get a call center. After a week of getting the run around, the call center now says they talked with the mgr at the Avis in Bozeman and nothing was turned in. Never, ever use them!!!!

It's been a month and they still haven't returned my $200 deposit

I rented a vehicle to take my daughter to college. I was going to put the charges on my credit card, but was unaware of the $200 deposit on top of the charges. I couldn't cover it on my credit card, so I had no choice but to put it on my debit card. I returned the vehicle on time, with a full tank and perfectly clean. They told me it would take 5-10 days for my $200 to be returned. It's been nearly a month now and I still haven't received my deposit. Every time I call the rental location I get transferred to some person outside of the country who tells me I have to talk to my bank. It's not a bank issue. Banks don't keep you from accessing your money. Only Avis does that.

Never rent from this company...Avis!!

Large companies are becoming the worst. Took a flight from Nashville Tn to San Diego. Reserved a vehicle for 2 day with Avis. Received a conformation text/email to pick up rental, so I took a taxi downtown, which cost me $25.88 for a 1.5 mile ride. Got to Avis and no vehicle is available. Not only for me, but there were 2 other people ahead of me with no vehicle available. The representative act as if she didn't care, all the while blaming the reason on Uber renting their cars. I really didn't understand her excuse, they are in a contract with Uber and Uber gets a percentage of their vehicles...blah, blah, blah. Avis is so unprofessional!! I was without transportation for those day visiting San Diego, which mad my trip one to forget. I asked if Avis had already taken my money and she couldn't tell me. I asked if they took my money, would it be returned but she wouldn't answer. I will never again rent from this company. They care nothing about the consumer, their workers nor their reputation.

Absolutely not possible, you'll be kept on hold for ages and if lucky will be answered by someone who doesn't understand English

They don't answer their phone. If you want to contact the office, you have to go directly to the office and wait in line.

Can you share a success story using Avis?

On June, 24,2020, I arrived at sky harbor airport rented a vehicle from Payless or Budget. Upon arrival, there was a long waiting period. The associate told me he would give me a better car for the same price as the initial rental I reserved. Also, he stated I could pay 40 dollars to receive the advantage of bringing the car back on empty if I chose. Two weeks later when I come to extend my rental I found out Avis was overcharging me and had to get the price adjusted. Later I called the 1800 number to extend my rental from July 24 to August 24th in which Avis did do. On August 24th, I called to extend my rental for two months. However, the associate said I could only extend for 1 month (August 24th -September 24th). So, I submitted for another month. The associate told me she submitted it. So I was under the understanding that my rental had been extended. On September 17th, I received a text message as well as a phone call stating that I needed to return the vehicle because it was critically past due. If not returned, the police will be notified of the care being stolen. I'm a travel Crisis nurse; I had to leave work and drive 35 mins to get to the Avis/budget location in Chandler. On the way to Avis, I called the 1800 number again. The associates were saying my submission was "improperly put in" by the associate. I asked why would I need to bring the vehicle back. Can you guys just charge my card on file for the month I initially requested? The associate said no and I had to return the car. The associate at the Chandler, AZ location was very nonchalant. I explained the situation above and he stated the people I spoke to on the 1800 number were not the boss. They cannot extend my rental. I should have called an actual location. I was explaining to him that they already extended it for me once. Thus, they can extend the rental. Also, the automated system has an option to extend your rental. So, I was not understanding why the information he was providing and the system was contraindicating. I asked him to refund my money for the charges and fees placed because this whole situation was an AVIS error not mine. He said he could not adjust any charges on my account. I would have to go back to the location, my contract originated. Then, I drove to the Sky Harbor Airport and the associates there was very calm and truly tried to explain everything. However, the manager stated that he could not adjust any charges and fees and that I would have to call corporate to get a refund. Also, he said I would have to return the car officially. Then, the corporate associates will be able to look at my account. I officially returned the vehicle. While in the Avis location at Sky Harbor, I called the 1800 number again. I explained the situation, and the associate stated my account was being investigated. I asked to speak with someone who can refund my money that day, because Avis charged my card on file right at 3,000 dollars. My usual rental charges was 1,000-1060 per month. I had the car three weeks and three days past August 24. The associate told me there was a 24-48hr period before refund would be given because they had to look at the account. I continued to ask for a refund today. He consistently said no basically. He hung up on me. I called back and spoke with someone different and went through the same process except I found out I couldn't even get another rental for Avis or Budget because I was placed on a DO-NOT-RENT LIST. I explained that I needed to return to work and needed to rent another car. He said he would suggest going to another company until this is cleared. I asked to speak with the manager and the manager said the same thing. I was beyond frustrated. I went to the other companies at the airport and all of them were sold out of cars. So, I was STUCK AT THE AIRPORT WITH NO CAR AND NO WAY TO GET BACK TO WORK. I called the 1800 number again to see if I can speak with someone above the floor supervisor, and I was told I could not. The floor supervisor stated to me that he could not give me the number. I explained my disbelief and disappointment in Avis for how poorly they had treated me. Everybody was very nonchalant. So, I had to catch an uber to my hotel and research locations to get a vehicle. I was CARLESS until Sunday. My experience with AVIS was the ABSOLUTE WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. AVIS FAILED ME AND DID NOT DELIVER ON THEIR PROMISES. Do to the lack of empathy or concern for its customer, I was STRANDED AT THE AIRPORT UNTIL 4PM( 6HOURS)! PLUS, MY WAGES WAS DEDUCTED BECAUSE I COULD NOT RETURN BACK TO WORK. AVIS did a poor job of correcting the mistake made on their part. This was the WORST RENTAL EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. AVIS/BUDGET IS UNTRUSTWORTHY.
